I usually drink coffee, but I do occasionally like a nice cup of tea. One of my favorite restaurants, "Kruse and Muer at the Village of Rochester Hills" (in Michigan) has many, many good things, but there coffee is too strong for me, so I order tea, when I remember. They bring you a tea selection, in a wooden box, and had been carrying Bigelow teas, but they just switched to Mighty Leaf. We went yesterday, I was feeling tired, and wanted a Noon-time dose of caffeine. I looked over the Mighty Leaf selection (they have a very nice website, with an easily-guessed name), and chose the Vanilla Bean.

It came in a sealed foil packet and, inside, I found the "handcrafted silken pouch" packed with whole black tea leaves. The aromas of tea and Madagascan vanilla beans were quite pronounced, and I brewed my first eight-ounce cup for the recommended four minutes. The tastes of tea and vanilla were just as pronounced as their aromas, and I enjoyed my tea thoroughly.

Meanwhile, I had put that same bag in a second pot of hot water. While the second cup had lost quite a bit of its aroma, both tastes were still quite intact. I often use cream and sugar in my tea, but drank the first cup plain, to see what the tea itself tasted like. The second cup was still flavorful enough to not need cream or sugar. Oh, and there was enough caffeine to wake me up.

The selection from Mighty Leaf includes decaffeinated, light caffeine, and regular varieties, with a selection of interesting flavors. I like this company's product, and its somewhat exotic style, and look forward to trying other selections from Mighty Leaf.
